THE RELATED GROUP, PHILIPPE STARCK AND ARQUITECTONICA EARN INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING WORK ON ICON BRICKELL, MIAMI
Miami, FLORIDA (August 29, 2007) –ICON Brickell, a $1.2 billion luxury condominium development on Brickell Avenue, Downtown Miami, has earned one of the building industry’s most prestigious honors—the International Property Award. The Related Group, ICON Brickell’s developer, Designer Philippe Starck, and architectural firm Arquitectonica jointly competed against developments worldwide to win in the category of the World’s “Best Development.”
“This immense honor illustrates ICON Brickell’s caliber in the highly competitive global property arena,” said Jorge Perez, The Related Group’s Founder and CEO, who will accept the international award in London on September 14, 2007.
ICON Brickell is an urban oasis in Miami, Florida, just steps from the financial district and downtown, as well as the area’s new Performing Arts Center and the Design District. While it boasts a central location to a vast array of cultural and business facilities, the design team of Yoo by Philippe Starck, succeeded in creating a stylish atmosphere that feels a world away from the rush of the city.
The award reflects Yoo by Philippe Starck’s creativity and innovation in designing a development that includes a spectacular two-story entrance with columns inspired by the Moai Statues of Easter Island; French or Blue St. Tropez limestone or Black Absolute Granite kitchen countertops; and bathrooms with a choice of classic-style French limestone flooring or cultural-style blue St. Tropez limestone.
ICON Brickell also features breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay, downtown Miami, Key Biscayne, and Miami Beach, terraces with glass railings accessible from bedrooms and the living room, amenities equivalent to a five-star resort, and a two-acre park terrace and 300-foot-long swimming pool perched 140 feet above the ground.
The International Property Awards, the largest of its type in the world, is now in its 13th year. Supported by five media partners and nine professional organizations, the Awards attracted entries from a record 57 different companies in 2007. The panel of judges consisted of some of the industry’s top professionals. Factors considered included location, target market, external appearance of the development, innovation and outstanding architectural and interior design.
ICON Brickell’s award-winning design and development team are currently working on Philippe Starck’s only beachfront condominiums, ICON Vallarta, a new $200 million luxury development on Mexico’s Bahía de Banderas Coast.
